The day started well, we had a bit more of a lie in till 8am! Wow!
Again Dave came in and woke me up by physically shaking me. I think he though i was dead.
We went downstairs for some more f the georgeous breakfast, thistime we were early enough to have an egg each!
The weather was cold and the roads were wet not a good sign for the public session on the Ring.
We headed on down to the ring and met up with the rest of the group from the other hotel, some of whom had put in a few laps before it got really busy. Dave bout his 5 lap pass and went out for a blast. Colin and I hung around the cafe and had a coffee as it was still darn cold!
I was really worried about the track being so wet and was a little aprehensive about Dave going out there and blasting around.
After 30mins a small number of the group came back with 2 of them spinning and luckily missing the armco. One of them doing a full 360!
Dave came back with the news that one of the group had lost control and crashed into the armco. Everyone was really worried as the car was a mess, it was the guys second lap and had obviously gained far to much confidence on this unforgiving track.
After standing around for a bit we learnt that the two guys were ok but the car was pretty much totalled. This was bad news as the guy didnt have track insurance and wrote off a 1 year old Mini Cooper! 15k down the drain thankyou please!
We were all shook up at the fact that it is so easy to lose it with a lapse of concentration and over confidence.
After a while wandering around the car park drooling over the ltd edition porkers and a georgeous M3 CSL Dave took us down to a spectacular series of bends to take some photos and some video.
Dave left Colin and I to battle the freezing cold on this bend, we set up our cameras and dv camera and waited for some action. We were not dissappointed with some beautiful cars nailing it through the s bend.
There were so many highlights, the Ring Taxi driven by Sabine Schmitz was amazing, she clocks up 1200 laps a year as a professional driver taking out passengers at 140euros a go. However it costs BMW a whopping 500euros per lap as they change tyres and brakes every 20 laps. Thats roughly every 300miles!!
Dave came and picked us after our nuts had frozen off. We headed back to the Ring car park and hung around for a bit until Dave plucked up the courage to allow Colin to drive his car on the track. I was a little worried after seeing one of the other guys go off and driving Daves 20k car with no insurance.
Colin had no such qualms and proceeded to rape Daves car around the ring. While they were out i decided i had'nt come all this way to be a pussy grabbed a ticket from the kiosk and ordered colin out of the car so i did'nt have time to back out.
I pulled up at the barrier next to a motorbike and thought oh great, bikers are renound for being crazy and their deaths average around 1 a week at the ring.
The barrier rose and i thought, ahh this is just a leisurely trip around the countryside. That soon changed when a procession of nutters in porsches and audi rs cam flying past. At one point a Focus RS nearly removed the bloody wing mirror.
The drive was both scary and enjoyable, enjoyable on the staright and damn scary on bends! One slight moistening of the trousers was when i exited the karussel to early and ended up heading for the armco. Luckily being a highly trained driver i braked

and missed the barrier.
All the way around dave was screaming out gears and how fast i should be going like a proper rally slag, that helped alot and put my mind at ease. I was surprised how well he knew the track.
We came to the fianl bend after a fairly uneventful 14 miles and went to thrash it down the final straight, i wasnt allowed as i had to cool the brakes! Spoil sport!
We returned back to the car park everyone seemed fairly deflated and we finally decided to depart. We left and found a small cafe in a village not far from our hotel. I managed to mess up the order and got myself a large hot choclate when i bloody hate the stuff, lucky for me Colin does!
We had our meal and left to go back to the hotel. We came back had a snooze and went out again for a Pizza in Adenau.
After a rather enjoyable meal we came back to our hotel and went to sleepafter searching for porn on the dodgy german sky tv. None Found - Boooooo!
