I'm definitely interested, but university commitments mean I may not be able to make it, depending on when it is going to be.

Got a reply from the top gear track today! Here is what he said...

Hi Rich

Thank you for your recent enquiry. We would be more than happy to accommodate you if you agree to the following:

Each person would pay £25 and for this, the group will get around 5-6 laps of the track. (Depending on the number of people, we may split you into smaller groups).
Each lap will be led by a member of our staff.
No one will be allowed to overtake or exceed a speed limit of around 40-50 miles per hour.
You must raise a minimum of £500. £400 of this will go to our charity of choice and £100 will be for administration costs. (Any money raised in excess of £500 may be kept and donated to your charity of choice.
There can be no photography or filming of any kind. If anyone is seen doing so, the event will be stopped immediately and the group will be asked to leave straight away.

If you agree to these terms please let me know and we can discuss dates.

Regards

Ricky Bateman

I'd rather drive round the M25 at 40mph, not overtaking anything than paying £x to do so at the Top Gear track!

I don't get it thought the point of a track day was to drive fast around a track and they say there is a speed limit of 40-50 am I missing something!!!

Benoez, thanks for the time and effort that you have put in, but I think the general consensus is that it seems a bit daft to follow around a pace car around a track at normal road speeds.

I know it would partly be the whole "I've driven the Top Gear track" experience, but if a track day is what we want to do, I think it would be better for us all to turn up at Donnington or Oulton one day.

i can see people's points but what if someone runs off the track or into someone else? the rules on the other one i looked at at the very begining of the whole track day thing were similar i think

I'm not saying it isn't worth it. Lets face it, what's £25 these days?

It's just from a personal point of view, I'm not prepared to drive all the way down to Guildford to drive under that harsher discipline.

Plus at £25 each, and needing a minimum of £500 we'd need 20 people, that's never gonna happen on here i'm afraid.
